Class: From the Heart

acimmonkClass summary: Coming to the present moment in innocence to experience it truly without past baggage. The drudgery of not coming from the heart — making the decision for soulfulness instead of soullessness. How to avoid doing things just for the sake of the body, and not dragging the past into the present. Addresses the question: “I feel self-conscious and want to hide away in my house instead of being social. I notice I often feel scared of others; what is really going on here?” A look at our defenses against love.

  1. Cynthia whispered:

    Hmmmm
    That sounds familiar
Am looking forward to listening to the class.
Does this mean help is on the way?

For now I’m going to run back inside.
Maybe later I’ll walk over to the Sisters of Mary Convent.
Appears to be not too threatening

  2. Debbi whispered:

Careful, the Sisters are carrying that scary-Love too. They only ‘look’ safe ’cause they’re all black and white, like large penguins with Bibles and big necklaces, puttering around doing Nothing. That should be our first clue, i.e. “I Need Do Nothing” except walk around this convent with the love of Jesus by my side. Approach cautiously, if at all. I hope to join them eventually except I’m going to wear navy-blue and white and carry around a Big Blue Book to show that I don’t know anything, so I needn’t DO anything. Then when I’m Really done with ego I won’t need to ’show’ anything at all.

  3. Sarah whispered:

Wow, what a powerful class! It was a tough one for me, and I had to take frequent breaks for yoga posing and sips of tea (that’s part of forgiveness, right? I’m quoting you on that!)….I think I am going to listen again in a day or two when my ego has become engrossed in one of my trashy romance novels. Thanks so much, Jamie!!!

  4. Bonnie whispered:

hahaha! you crack me up, sarah. thanks for your GREAT class questions.

  5. Sarah whispered:

Thanks, Bonnie. :-) I love your questions, too. I thought I was the only one who keeps forgetting the….(3?) steps to forgiveness. Sometimes I feel guilty asking questions because Jamie is so willing to spend time with them and I don’t want to take away from your and your classmates’ time, so I really appreciate your sentiment.

  6. Lisi whispered:

Thank you Jamie, a very powerful class as Sarah said. Thanks a lot to Bonnie too for her questions. It´s as if she knows exactly what we need to know or what we want to ask. The part about fighting the ego is superb. I think almost all students at the beginning, and sometimes not at the beginning, think the way to get rid of the ego is fighting it or denying it, not knowing we are only making it real. Thanks again for a beautiful class.

  7. Mother Superior whispered:

Lovely class, thank you so much, Monk. Some highlights for me, were:

The relationship between being Joyful and Peaceful.. wonderful description. It helped me to identify ‘bliss-ninnie-ness” versus the Joy and Peace of God.

How to see ’spiritual’ objects we may surround ourselves with, in a right-minded way.. which is to remind ourselves of what is beyond the symbol.

There are no ’spiritual people’… that is an oxymoron. If you think you are a person, you are thinking with the ego. Again, use symbols to lead you beyond them.

Kindness points us in the right direction. It might not be ‘Perfect Love’ but it’s on the way to it. Kindness is right-minded.

Don’t fight the ego. Just let it fall away. It is something that you have propped up into seeming existence that will just fall away when you cease to prop it up by fighting it, worrying about it, hating that you still choose it, or giving it much thought at all other than giving it to Jesus. He knows what to do with it.

I am grateful for this opportunity to learn,
    Love,
    Mother

My friend from australia just turned me on to this website who I met at a ken wapnick class.I randomly found the dissapearance of the universe book on an atm machine in 2005 and now I am doing ken wapnick’s journey through the workbook .I have been on lesson 135 forever now.I have been to 3 of ken’s academy classes and purchased many dvd’s that never fail to blow my mind.It is a shocker for me that I am here because I want to be.I soooo look foward to experiencing that I never left the ONENESS .So greatful for this path…happy new year to all…zouabi from maui p.s.how do I book a session?

  9. Mother Superior whispered:

Welcome Jaanette Zouabi!! It is so nice to see you here, and we hope to see you often!!

Information about how to book a session is found here: ACIM Monk: Private Sessions. Alternately, you can shoot an email off to Emm-Admin (monastery@acimmonk DOT com) to book a session.

There is lots of fun information that is helpful to newcomers at The Abbacy: Admin Offices & Site FAQ.

The icons for both of these are found in the side-bar on the right-hand side of the Main Page (www.acimmonk.com). Hold your mouse over the “Rooms of the Monastery” individual pictures and you will see their descriptions appear.

    Hope this helps,
Let us know if you need more assistance,
    Love,
    Mother

  10. Joe whispered:

Hey Zouabi!! You made it! So glad that you found your way and even whispered! Thanks to Mother Superior for warmly welcoming my dear friend. Zouabi, I had forgotten that ATM story – what a spin out!

As i read your intro zouabi i realised that i haven’t really introduced myself to everyone here. Well here i go – i’m a young guy from sydney australia. I’ve been studying the Course for only about 3 years now. I recently was lucky enough to make a trip to the USA and managed to go hear Ken speak during the october and november classes at the foundation for a course in miracles. I made some really great friends, one of them being zouabi, and i learnt quite a bit too. It was a great experience and many of the pearls of wisdom come back to me when needed and i look forward to my next trip.

I also briefly met nick, who i believe was there with his wife, at the la quinta hotel – but you might not remember.

I will be trying to get a gravitar soon so you can see who i am. Actually i just remembered i also met melody! A big sweetheart with a lovely smile.

Well hope to see you all more in the new year!

    love lots joe : )

p.s. was just thinking it would be really cool to have a page where new people can introduce themselves if there isnt already an area like that – maybe a main office of the monastery where you go to register yourself, organise a tour etc.?? And then if you decide to stay on you can post your pictures. Just an idea.

p.s.2 – i know the abbacy is like an intro to the monastery maybe if it was a bit more clearly marked for first timers as i know that there are lots of great FAQs on there.

    p.s.3 – what a long whisper!

  11. Al from Aotearoa☼ whispered:

Hi Jaanette zouabi (is it just zouabi – like joe says?) and joe! (fellow down underer). I think that’s a real cool idea joe – a page where you could go and check out monklingd profiles – although it does sound a bit Find Someone-ish as i typed it.

wow – that’s three new whisperers in one day – cool! Look forward to hearing more from yuz.

Loving hug to all monklings debuting
this monastry of mists for a viewing
    love and laughter abound
    wit and wisdom astound
    so welcome y’all comments ensuing!

  12. Joe whispered:

LOL! That little poem is so cool Al!! So we are just across the water from each other – i have a feeling most everyone else is snuggled up in bed while we keep the monastery chit chat going : )) According to my clock though, it is just about time for us down underers to make our own way to bed. Nighty night al!

  13. Al from Aotearoa☼ whispered:

    Pyjama pyjama joe!

  14. Lisi whispered:

Welcome to the Monastery Jaanette Zouabi, you are going to find here all you need, from learning to having a great time with all the humor around all the Monastery, passing through all the rooms where you can find comfort, hugs, and lots of love.

  15. winnie whispered:

    welcome Jeanette

    welcome Joe {I`m from Qld}

    hugs to you both xxoxoxo

  16. heather whispered:

hi zouabi! it’s heather and nick from the foundation…just thought of you the other day while i was drinking some yummy coconut water! :) so good to see you on here! will you be at the foundation in january? xoxo

  17. heather whispered:

joe, we think we remember you sitting in the back of class asking thoughtful questions. did we meet you at la quinta in october? we are the newlyweds from class…

  18. Joe whispered:

Thanks winnie (a fellow aussie) and heather and nick – i was the one in the back of the class trying to figure all this out and asking what i hoped sounded like meaningful questions ; ) It was back in october that i met you guys..hope to see you all again maybe next year or the year after
