Dear Monk: Empty Dream Figures?

Empty Dream FiguresWhile it is true in Reality that nothing and no one exists outside of God, that is not our illusory experience. We are not asked to deny our illusory experience (that feels oh-so-real), but rather to give these experiences another purpose. Namely, to return us to our minds.

Used for this purpose, the dream figures are no longer empty, each is oh-so-pregnant with meaning because they mirror back to us the all-important content of our minds – namely, our decision for specialness, and the guilt that follows.

If the only way for us to heal is to look upon the decision for specialness in our mind, and the only way to look upon this decision is by using the world and relationships as a mirror, then we need the world to heal. Thus, the dream figures are no longer empty, meaningless, and hollow. Used for this holy purpose, they give birth to the memory of Christ in us by lighting the way to our mind where Jesus waits, ready to take us beyond the split-mind entirely.

When we take their hand, our brother passes us to Jesus, and Jesus passes us to God.

How holy are our brothers seen in this light! How meaningful and dear!

They become our saviors.
