FACIM D1: Bach to Basics

Our drive to Temecula was great. Left at 6am and arrived at 11:30am with the least amount of traffic I’ve ever seen on I-15 trek to Temecula. Bonnie slept for 5 of the 5.5 hours, so she was all like, “What drive?”

Our hotel room was unexpectedly occupied so they moved us to room number… 111. No, it was not a portal into another dimension, though I did open the door slowly, just in case.

Also: Right in front of our new room was a green Lexus that was the same model, and color as Ken’s. I thought he might be waiting in the room, sitting on the sofa in low light, smoking a cigar with the curtains drawn…

Ken: Jamie, The Foundation wants have a word with you. It’s about your blog.
Me: What blog?
Ken: Exactly.

A bit later we went to the Foundation and met my lovely Lonni-lulu for the first time — a great friend I made from my Q&A list. Also met some other people I’d only met online through the blog/Q&A list… Erik from Austin, and Noree and Jeff from Vermont (whose name I mispronounced as I introduced her to everyone), but who live in a trailer in Temecula during the winter so that they can attend Ken’s classes.

Also ran into a bunch of old friends (Maneesha from England was there again) and made some new ones (Gayle from Utah).

The class itself was phenomenal… which is to say average (for Ken). I had an experience of deep inner quiet that I haven’t had (to that degree) since the last time I was here sitting in class. This time I clued in to the idea that brought me to that place, so I hope to replicate the experience while not sitting in one of the purple chairs. If that fails, I will just order one of the purple chairs for my bedroom.

Ken has asked Bonnie to play violin for the class… she’ll probably end up doing it 2-3 times. She’s going to play Bach (not sure if it’s “Bach Around the Clock”, or “Baby Come Bach”) and then a Celtic lament, and if she plays a third time, it would be the theme from Memoirs of a Geisha.

I was also glad to hear the Foundation and the Best Western finally got everything together and the deal I negotiated for ACIM students to get a special rate here is getting out there. The Best Western also have a new breakfast room — I’m convinced it’s all the special light and love Course students bring when they stay here. That has to be it. Right? Right??

Oh yeah… the place was packed yesterday and promises to be moreso today. For the first time Ken asked people to pre-register for classes if at all possible. There’s no room for more students so it’ll be interesting to see what happens if attendance grows next year.
