Red Mountain Monastery: Done Deal

red-mountain-monastery-staircaseUpdate 06/28/10: We closed on the condo this morning, and will be able to move in in about two weeks. It’s been a busy time, so we’re looking forward to getting settled in. Bonnie and I would like to thank everyone for all the well wishes!

06/09/10 Yesterday, after a long search for our first home, we signed a contract to buy a condo. (View Photos. Please note: The photos were taken with a wide-angled lens, so that tends to distort and make rooms look longer.) We had been very close to getting a house at the base of Red Mountain, but in the end we decided a condo would be a simpler way of life with less financial strain. The cool thing is, it also has a beautiful view of Red Mountain. And Pine Valley Mountain. In fact, from our bedroom window, you can see the mountains upon which I spent my wintry retreat. When I am writing my little e-book about the retreat I will be able to glance up and see the mountains as an evocative reminder and inspiration.

Backing up a little: When we first arrived to look at the condo about a month ago, the selling agent mentioned he was a Course student. We took that as an ominous sign. (Just kidding.) His name is Kyle, and he was instrumental in helping us secure a contract as the condo we wanted was being used as the model/sales office, and wasn’t listed on the market. All this and he invited us to become a part of his community garden. And since he visits the Monastery: Thank you for everything, Kyle!

The move-in date isn’t until later in July, so Dreamy will have to hang on a little while longer, but we’ve told him chasing birds while roaming the countryside is not far away now. He pretended to look unimpressed. We have some winning-back to do there.

Finally, Bonnie and I really like the name of our new street: Bella Vista. It’s reminiscent of “true perception”, “true vision”, “right-minded perception” etc. It will be a nice place for music and writing, and feels like it will be a perfect place for us to continue our lives together. When Ken asked, “Is it a kissable situation?” we both agreed it was. Shooting stars come and go, but the kiss that joins two brothers leads us far beyond the stars and the sky.
