That violet ray in Rays of Hope…I looked at this image for quite a while. Very peaceful. And as an old Buddhist, curious about which prayer the curtains are showing? Do you know?
With love to you and the little patient, recuperating (both of you :-)

first snow-storm laden trees. the first I see is a huge soft snow heart to the left.
And the bridge – with the lights in the water – you know, Jamie, make a christmascard from it and be rich. Or just share it and make people who see it very happy, like me. When I was little, I used to train myself to sit still and go into stuff around me – like carpets – becoming little like an atom :-) – and i also still love to go into landcsapes and become the air in it. So peaceful, that bridge-image. Thank you so much for this joy.

I love your new pictures, it looks just beautiful there, Monk. Thanks so much for posting them… “Snowy sunrise” is now my desktop picture and I think when Christmas is closer I will switch to the “Arched bridge at Christmas” picture.. Wait. Can’t wait. Just switched to Chrismasy Bridge.. oh it’s beautiful on my big screen… And, it’s very, very fun to see the atmosphere there at the Mountain Monastery.
And my! Dreamy is practically a full-grown man, uh cat now!!! {{Hugs to you both!}}

Beautiful pictures, love you sharing your solitude. Rusty just looks like Mr. Ed, remember how he listened to anything Wilbur would come out and talk to him about. OK, Mr. Ed also had suggestions. Rusty sounds like he is just letting you know he’s there for you. Much less attached to his ego than Mr. Ed, I guess.

Jamie, I love these pictures, I’m so glad you shared them. I have a waaay better feeling now about where you live. There ARE green things and wet things around you. It is not as barren as I feared :-D
Sending hugs…

Nice photos. I wish that beauty in the photos also was present in my inner world.
Jamie what is the race/breed/kind (how is it correct in English?) of your cat? Is it Russian Blue (direct translation from Lithuanian)?
Cheers
G.

Nick: If ever the day comes when our monk wishes to retire this site (god forgive me for even saying this) but that would be the perfect video to sign off with.
I think I’ll come back often and sit with this sweet Monk and drink a hot brew and just wait for that moment of surrender.
January 12th, 2010 at 9:14 am

Nick, I love that you bring these wonderful pieces to the Monastery. I may never have seen them otherwise and they are such gifts. My whole being became soft and easy while watching him and reading what he was teaching. There was so much peace and such gentleness extending from him. It gave me much hope. Thank you dear.

Nina, I want to thank you for posting ‘The Monk and the Fish’. I was looking around and found some others pieces of work by Michael Dudok de Wit. This one is so simple and yet says it all…
January 15th, 2010 at 2:04 pm
Lisa, I just saw Michael Dudok de Wit’s “Father and daughter. ”
the end is so beautiful -- I want my Father too -
January 15th, 2010 at 3:13 pm
omg nina – I just found this on YouTube this very day – and now here it is!
What a connection we all have – of all the gin joints in all the world….

Oh, how I loved this. Thank you.
January 16th, 2010 at 4:49 pm
Oh my dear Nina, thank you. This is the story of my life albeit I have not found my Father yet. I can´t stop crying so a hug and lots of love to you, Lisi
January 16th, 2010 at 8:07 pm
I can’t stop crying either Lisi. I have father issues and this just peeled another layer of the onion off. I always tried to get his love and approvel and the one and only freakin time back in my twentys when he managed to say “I love you” to me I just stared at him and then shrugged my shoulders and said “yeah me too” and we both stood in akward silence for a momet and then we walked off in seperate ways (we were out side). I wanted to hear that so much and when it happened I killed it by not being able to respond back with an “I love you too”.Excuse me while I find some more tissues to soak up the issues that are leaking all over my face.

This gallery is stunning!!!! I am not really a photo or even an arty person but am definitely getting an education on the side in the monastery…
I just love the colours that dazzle me the minute i walk in the door – the lilac, mauve pink of summer saying goodbye to the aqua skies of Juniper {the sky was really that colour?] and the deep divine blue of the afternoon mountains.
The Final Flower of Fall, looks singularly tired as if desperately trying to hold the fort when all others have given in, knowing the inevitable is at hand and yet still manages to looks dazzlingly beautiful.
I love the deer pictures of the animals and my favourite {only covering first page this whisper} is Rusty not just because of the lusciously warm caramel and brown colours, which invite me to change my mind about the colour brown, contrasted with the cold hard background, but the serene and angelic expression on his face.
Then there`s the ducks, pekin ducks no less, {we do not see many of them over here} coming out of the shadows into the sunlight to swim in that enchanting brook that must be the same one that the dear little bridge arches over. It`s not the photo so much as imagining how lovely that entire scenario must be !
The first snowflakes picture could so be on a Christmas card and altogether there are 3 full moon pictures all so different.. {i dont understand why the night was so dark when the moon was so full}
Interesting it is to see lots of pictures of lasts {sunsets and final flowers] and firsts {sunrises and first snowflakes}. I guess these are often the most visually spectacular {albeit brief} moments, which is why Rays of Hope is especially beautiful. At first glance – meh… but when you enlarge it, what a gift ! And ….itlasted all morning – “carrying His message of hope and freedom”
January 27th, 2010 at 3:29 pm
Winnie, everything in your whisper here is written out of an artist’s eyes and ears and sense of poetry. I have the right to say this, a someone who has degrees in art and teaching :-) you are selling yourself short, sweetie – you have the ability to phraze things in a way that makes us see things for the first time: that is rare and belong to artists. Maybe you just learned to believe a silly remark from a parent or sibling or schoolteacher. And i am not being “nice” here Winnie – your way of noticing touch my heart and make me read the sentences many times, and enjoy again the images they give me, and the delicatess you describe them with.
January 28th, 2010 at 3:07 pm
Nina – you ARE very kind…. i dont take compliments very well and usually dont know what to say. The last time you said something nice about my writing i simply didnt believe it….. {but something wonderful has happened since then}….and because of that i find myself open to receivingeven though i am very conscious that we are taking up space in Monk`s private gallery Thank you my wonderful sister/teacher
